Homeless Outreach Peer Support - Part-Time!
Kennebec Behavioral Health is currently seeking a part-time Homeless Outreach Peer Support candidate to join our Homeless Outreach program in the Kennebec, and Somerset areas!
This position provides peer support services and consumer information for participants in the Outreach Program(s) as needed. The Peer Support functions as an integral part of the Outreach team and performs a wide range of tasks to assist participants in improving self-efficacy, identifying strengths and needs relative to achieving goals, and promotes empowerment and participation in the service planning process. The Peer Support provides support and outreach to homeless persons in a variety of settings. Outreach efforts are to identify and engage homeless and, at times, those at risk of homelessness as needed. These may be persons who are not interested or comfortable with traditional services or systems. Outreach includes, but is not limited to, engagement, monitoring, supporting, securing, and linking services, mainstream resources and housing on behalf of the individual, linkage of individual into the community services system or other program staff as needed to meet those needs, and advocating for homeless services with other providers including shelters, schools, mental health, medical and social service providers.

- Knowledge of and direct experience with mental health services as a self-identified mental health consumer.
- High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Must obtain Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) certification in the state of Maine within 12 months of hire and maintain certification during employment.
- Volunteer experience at a Peer Center, Peer Support 101 training, provisional CIPSS certification and/or work experience has a Peer Support Specialist is preferred
