Internship Opportunities - Access Center
Kennebec Behavioral Health is currently offering undergraduate internships in all of our four Access Center office locations. The Access Center provides initial point of contact for clients, assesses client needs, link clients to appropriate services, collects demographic data, serves as liaison with community providers, and provides crisis intervention as required.
Access Center staff and interns have worked diligently to create a clinical experiential learning environment with comprehensive learning plans, training in electronic medical records, valuable client contact time, and various research projects. Interns will have use of a workstation with a computer and a phone, interface with referral sources such as medical professionals, social service providers, and educational professionals, and interact with patients seeking services.
Position requires: Current enrollment in area of Social Services collegiate studies. Experience in the mental health field would be a plus. Additional skills for this position would include proficiency with computers, excellent customer service, and the ability to multi-task.
Some of our top performing interns have been invited to functions at the Maine State House, local Chambers of Commerce, and most recently, to work with doctoral students at Harvard University.

Currently, we are offering 16 hours/week internships at four office locations: Augusta, Waterville, Skowhegan, and Winthrop. A graduate internship may also be available to students enrolled in a Master’s Degree program in social work, psychology or a related field.
